My Rugged Rosary. over 40 inches in length. Pray & Praise Jesus!
Made with beads from branches of trees already cut down (dead or dangerous) so there are no chemicals on the 'beads', or the larger slice', hemp string for strength & Jesus fish from pine painted with acrylic (some iridescent pearl' as well). I chose a Rainbow Trout to represent Jesus, the rainbow as the symbol God put in the sky to remind us he would not flood the entire earth again.
Genesis 9:13I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. I chose a fish to represent nature, Jesus has been represented as a fish, especially inturbulent times - it was a secret symbol to show ones faith & following Jesus. I have collected fish, alwayswith the undertone that they representJesus. It turned out as I anticipated! Not an easy task threading all the beads' and I drilled all the holes - hard to do with fingers that don't bend -but it made me all the more appreciative when I was finished! It's strong so I have no fear of breaking itduring prayer, it's big so losing it won't be easy either, 'whew'.. I have misplaced a few over theyears. It was made from items collected on my own property, making it more special to me as I searched for the perfect branch'. Most importantly, I made it forJesus! He actually gave me the idea...
Created with Love for Love of My Creator!
When I was sure it was dry, I prayed it. The Rosary is a weapon against evil give to us by The Virgin Mother Mary to help comfort & provide strength. It has become a habit I adore, it brings me Peace, comfort & reminds me of The power of Jesus & the power of His love for us. Several in my collection, many broke from extensive use - in some cases a generation or two... but this is indeed special. I put much consideration, respect & love into every aspect from walking the forest to painting every stroke. I have two more, each one slightly different, one is a gift and I'm not sure about the other, yet.
We were created to create!
Give thanks for this day The Lord has made!
Pine mouse 5 x 7 watercolour & gouache
The last little mouse inspired another... several, one painted & a few still waiting in my mind. I certainly don't have any excuse for a lack of ideas or inspiration as I sit painting and watching Fall happen! I enjoy these tiny paintings, most days I can paint two, possibly even 3. What stops me usually is pain & why I'm grateful for cannabis - a pain medicine I can take 'when I need it. I usually have some before I attempt to watch something on T.V. trying to slow my twitch down so I can focus on the show & the subtitles. The good thing about reading is I can take a breath, rest a moment and then continue and I don't miss anything or have to hit the pause every few moments & I guess the same could be said for painting. Having a puffiest before or during a movie slows it down enough not to be overly distracted or overwhelmed by it.
I have no desire to defend' cannabis anymore... use it or don't but don't knock them that do. They also don't belong in jail.
When I think about the food pyramid - created by the government to keep us our healthiest', NOW exposed as a complete lie, all those that knew "on the board" who lined their pocket with our lives, they should be in jail. They have caused more harm to humans - creating sickness and obesity in billions. People, even when exposed to the truth will still choose what they do & it seems to me that it's usually based from fear. No wonder we are told FEAR NOT in the bible once for every day of the year. Many I have known who smoke cigarettes & know they are very bad for them, admit they don't research because they "don't want to know", they're hooked. They fear quitting & fear knowing. Cigarettes, another time we were lied to for the love of money & profit. Alcohol. So no.. I don't care to argue with anyone one about something like cannabis or anything natural created by God - not man who used Gods creations to make sugary, fattening poisons disguised as 'food' & deadly PILLS at record profits. Anyone who thinks the lies have stopped are lying to themselves.
Someone was commenting the other day on Instagram about cannabis and was ready with the 'science' phbbbbt, ready to defend - yet completely ignoring the real dangers of cannabis = JAIL. Humiliation. Judgement. Poverty. *note I did not mention death. I decided at that second, I'm done arguing with others about cannabis, I have the best 'science' - experience. Pain relief, that's not messing up bowel movements & making me nauseous, has never killed anyone & I do not find addictive... allowing me, to use it when I need it. I felt like responding "do you defended the 'science' of opiates with such fierceness...", why bother. At this point why bother wasting our precious time judging anyone for anything like this, instead of focusing on raising each other up. When God want's us to learn about something/anything, namely -The Truth, we will. That and there are far more serious things happening to be passionate & defensive about - like protecting children &preventing the powers that be from killing us with lies - for profit.
I've got a sweet frog on my desk calling me back on this wet, bluster fall day - fantastic for painting.
Next: My Rugged Rosary. Inspired by Jesus, for Jesus & me.
Enjoy this day The Lord has made!
Thank you card. watercolour.
I was gifted this sweet little paint set- water colour made from SOIL.
Made by Zoils & Pigments. https://zoils-pigments.com/pages/our-endeavors
At first I thought - not many shades.. but a perfect mushroom palette! So I decided to use only the colour provided and it had a very 'Beatrix Potter vibe for me, so I went with it! I think the card turned out beautifully - displaying the range of the tiny paints used, I only added black and a few dots of white. The sensation of this paint was if painting with silk - talk about smooth. The consistency with only a drop or two - extra creamy - the quality is fantastic, and the cool' (made with dirt) is pretty terrific too. Have a peek at the website, it explains the process. They have indeed created a premium product. It was really a pleasure to try! How thoughtful of a tiny gift, much appreciated for the product & experience.
Thank You!
Created to create - I recommend you try these if into quality watercolour & they make a lovely gift, this tiny tin will paint many more cards, the next already sketched and waiting. I'll keep an eye on this company as they grow.
It's officially fall and Storms birthday! Just two more reasons to celebrate on this day the Lord has made.
What does one wish for their sons birthday - peace, health, prosperity with fun & friends thrown in for good measure. Storm has a few really good friends and of all ages, I love that as we all learn from everyone and the wider the gap, the wider range of knowledge & experiences & wisdom shared. I'm beyond happy he calls here' home, not just because of all his help but we usually have a enjoyable time just hanging out. I think every year: this is a great age but every age is a great age. I wish I had his optimism, he inspires me and he is my Storm that calms the storm for me, many times. He is the love of my life, I pray for him always and thank God for him continually, our kids are our Gift from God - true treasures' & as parents - the greatest gift we can give to them, is God.
The leaves are in full colour mode, orange, red, yellow, green & brown, to see fluttering down is beautiful in itself. The poetry of fall. A few windy days and the trees will be bare ready for winter, me too. On my desk today are 3 projects, one almost finished - my Rosary! I love it & can't wait to pray it even though I did when creating it, today it's all about details and 'Jesus', I also ponder Jesus the entire time painting & there's no place I'd rather be than thinking of Light & Love. A sweet tiny painting, inspired by my new soil paints, sketched and waiting for paint & my WB twirling art. (lol - also a tribute to Storm in a way)... I was so excited to work on my Rosary it will have to wait a few more days.
Storm will be making his birthday dinner tonight - hahaha - seriously, he is the best cook in this house, I'm proud of his culinary skills, some learned from me & his nanny but most he's pick up on his own, he made potatoes the other night - fresh from our own garden and they were the best I've ever had, I'm drooling already anticipating tonights meal!
Next, my soil paint card I created & what I thought of the product.
Another glorious day to celebrate this day The Lord has made!
Created to create - get at it!
It's fall! Just like that and almost overnight the leaves have turned! Many have fallen - it's beautiful! The weather has been hot & sunny which has been perfect for the last days of vegetable season - harvest. Durning the harvest moon I was outside at 3 am and was amazed that I could do everything or anything I wanted, I could have pulled weeds, it was so bright but with a tint of deep blue, incredible. The girls are absolutely loving it!
I actually din't paint the other day , it's the time when I know I better enjoy outdoors as soon it will be cold and wet and then snow - I'm looking forward to it all but it does limit my activity. My mom was up and we walked the forest and I took her to see Jesus, I'll miss him over the winter but will be all the more excited to possibly get out in the winter or see again in the spring! We are expecting a bit of rain today, perfect for painting! Yesterday, I received the tiniest paint set - so sweet, The paint is made from soil! I'm excited to try - a perfect palette for painting fungi. Well start this day with a foray, photos and back to paint mushrooms. Zoils & Pigmentsis a Canadian company - have a peek! I'll post my creations tomorrow. I am also painting a WB twirling art today that has special meaning to me.
Enjoy this day the Lord has made - it's a wonderful weekend for a drive to see the fall leaves! There's much to do in Haliburton (Haliburton Forest) & Minden as well as several tiny shops (a great book store to wander for a while- Masters Books in Haliburton) and several great places to eat, my current favourite is also the closest https://www.themasonjar.ca The Mason Jar food truck, Arrow and I are going to walk down today for lunch, this way we can walk off all that tasty goodness, lol... good thing too because it's also apple fritter season.

Big sketchbook Poppy.
I never get bored of painting Poppy. I love this tiny beast.
Blessed are you King of the Universe! Creator of dogs.
Enjoy your day!
The last dog days of summer.
18/9/2024
The last dog days of summer are here & what a lovely week (weather wise) it has been! This is how my day starts every day & I couldn't be happier! Play ball! Lot's on the go - roasting all the tomatoes turning ripe over night, pressing some leaves for future art ideas & ART!
Yesterday my first Rosary went from paper to actual object (thanks to Storm) and it took some patience and a few hours to string, difficult with fingers that don't want to bend but I persevered. lol. I don't mind telling you I absolutely LOVE it! It's not finished -the last detail (Jesus) takes the longest, I have two more planned as well.
I've been painting Poppy, the same photo drawn over and over & each is different, it's been interesting to see and a few I really like, some were begging to be painted. One sample is below, she absolutely is loving these late summer days, dogs are amazing at showing us how to soak up the sun and enjoy the simple things - like belly rubs and playing ball.
I was watching a 'medium' Tyler Henry, on Netflix :https://www.netflix.com/title/81190041. He seems very genuine and accurate. I believe many have this ability - we just have to listen & believe. I have had help from the other side, in his newest show he reminds us to not ignore the constant signs we get, don't dismiss them. The other day I chose a book on auditable to listen to while I paint and I though (rather than waste hours scrolling) pick the first one you see! So I did, I knew nothing about it other than the image was a 'bunch of letters' and one person rated it :I would read this over & over... so I thought - sounds good! let's try. Her first paragraph, she tells us her name and how she's happy to change (her last name back to her maiden name). Her name is Georgia. I guess I am meant to listen to this audio book.
This happens ALL the time as I've mentioned here several times. I know I blogged before but one incident that I often ponder, this of is when my step dad Billy sent me a warning! I woke up and had to 'know the time'- it was 2:22 and I had 3 words instantly in my mind: Check The VIN. Dazed & slightly confused I went back to sleep.
Later Norm told me he put a check for a $10,000 'hold on a used truck' that he was picking up... I was upset as he promised he would discuss with me first and we would both agree or disagree, but no - he did what he always does and just went ahead with purchasing. The message came back to me that morning and I realized 2:22 was my stepdads birthday - that's how I know it was him and check the VIN -the vehicle registration number (he was a car salesman, number one in Canada (for Fleet Ford sales at one time) & I knew too from also working in the car business what the VIN was - I DEMANDED Norm go right away and get the VIN number off the truck & checked at the licensing office. Turns out the truck (that looked' great) $40,000 - had previously been in a serious accident and was UN insurable! He would have technically not been able to drive it or not get insurance and if in an accident- screwed. I told him NO WAY! DO NOT BUY IT! Go get your money - they told him' no' and he said to me: there's nothing we can do. Phhhhhhbt.
The dealership tried to tell him they did not have to return his $10,000... needless to say God told me, exactly what to do and say and the check was returned later that day (with an apology!) & Norm learned again what would have been a very expensive lesson.
My stepdad Billy saved us over $40,000 and much heart ache. Believe it or not, I could care less, I know what happened and am grateful and I thank my dad all the time, still. Do not dismiss the little signs, pay attention - our loved ones can still help and always love us, especially from above. Often I'll think of people and see little signs, once thinking of a young girl that I knew who passed and I was suddenly bombarded with dragonflies, landing on me... it was her, no doubts.
There is so much we don't know...
I do know with God, all things are possible.
created to create & finish my Rosary!
2nd image in the sketch book. Simple, trying to decide on elements I might like in a more involved painting.
Tonight I'm excited for the moon - already impressive last night, It's the Harvest moon & it has me wondering what I might paint. There have been a few nights where the milky way was spectacular! It seems as if overnight some trees turned from green to orange & the driveway is covered in leaves. Today is actually HOT, it's the time where I think, o.k.... I'm ready for summer to be over.
As awesome as it is, I find the heat (as do many) draining.. I get more accomplished in the winter, and more painting.
Still, snow will be here soon enough so get out and explore while the weather is still comfortable to do so & the mosquitos have also appeared to fly south -yay, so walking in the woods is pretty much bug free.
Enjoy this day the Lord has made.
I Am the Light. New Sketch book for gouache 5.5 x 5.5
A new sketch book.. 48 pages so I guessed 48 days but if I continue with double spreads it will take 1/2 the time.
It's such a relaxing way to spend a morning, today was perfect as I was painting this when the sun came out & danced across my desk.. Painting something I don't have to 'think' about is even better... since I've painted this idea before in an even smaller book and a few times with just painting it flows easily and I get to watch paint mingle. I'm going to play with bold colours and backgrounds, united by the theme ' all things I love.
God, Jesus, dogs, trees, mushrooms... painting.
Today as I drew, I had a dragonfly land on the corner of my sketchbook and sit and watch me sketch.
In the afternoon, this creature crawled up beside me (took me by surprise, below) and I decide to place it in the garden.
Created to create
Squirrel discovery. 8 x 8 gouache
I see many mushrooms that are nibbled on - they feed the forest. Squirrels, chipmunk, mice, slugs, bear & deer all eat mushrooms & probably other animals. We went on a little foray yesterday, we always do but yesterday was to specifically look fo mushrooms & one bunch (growing on the side of a tree) to see how it progresses daily! We havechanterelle's, lobster & puffballs -all edible & turkey tail. I was noticing how some grow the same place over & over, although it might skip a season or year.. you never know. Everyday the trees become more vibrant yellow and a few red, it's so lovely but comes with knowing soon they will all be bare, thank goodness for pine - keeping the forest green.
I was reading about protests all over France today for the who's husband was drugging her and allowing strangers to rape her (over 80 known), she had no idea and only realized when police showed her videos... she decided NOT to remain anonymous - which I'm sure her pervert perpetrators would have preferred. She refused to be shamed for something she DID NOT do. Many men from all professions, many local to her community - will all be charged and judged. Some claimed they thought it was consensual " it was a game", "she was pretending to be asleep'... & then there are many who knew and although did not participate- are still going to be charged for not speaking up, not alerting the authorities. Some already insisting it's not rape' - as she was offered by her own husband, talk about a messed up mentality. Many predict- it's going to be a history changing case getting rid of 'word play' and blaming women for rape. If a woman does not verbally agree to sex (voluntarily, without pressure) it is rape. Many families will be destroyed and some will blame her for this too - the only ones to blame are the lowlife humans that actively took part or those well aware and looked the other way.
A couple of weeks ago a woman in Canada (Ottawa) was murdered and police officially labeled it "Femicide", meaning a woman murdered, usually by her partner. This was said to be a step in the right direction with the correct recognition & term' of what's happening - so common around the world, it's now got its own title. Wow, should women be celebrating with champagne or buying a gun? It certainly doesn't seem like something to celebrate. That being said - it is being recognized as a serious problem & will get even more attention around the world. Moms, daughters, wives, sisters, friends are losing their lives to men who lose control, intentionally or accidentally. This case will bring about change, I don't know if Paris has the death penalty but this level of cruelty & betrayal, might qualify. I do feel bad for the wives & children from all these others (including their own grandchildren) who also will have their lives effected by their husbands/fathers/sons/brothers atrocious actions... if anyone is going to be 'shamed' in this case it's the perpetrators. They are anticipating the case to go until December, the energy of hate & disgust he has brought upon himself will be powerful, the judgement he will face from millions around the world won't even compare to what he will face... eventually.
Give thanks for this day and Be as God asks:Joshua 1:9.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage;do not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
for theLordyour Godiswith you wherever you go.”
Typing this just reminded me, last night just before bed Arrow was growling at a noise she heard outside, she was lying on my bed (but does not sleep with me) & I thought: don't be afraid, it's probably a raccoon in the forest
& then whispered to her: We walk with God.
She gave me such a look of realization as if to say : Oh Yeah!! Thanks for the reminder mom!!
& then pounced on me so joyfully and gave me kisses - she made me lol, almost rolling me off the bed.
I think I will remind them every time we explore... We walk with God.
We do.
Thank You Lord for another glorious day to walk with YOU!
I'm going to add Giselle to my prayers & ask for her continued strength and give thanks for her being so courageous.
Paws for reflection. 8 x 8
Just a bear taking a moment to paws (pause). for reflection and give thanks for another day. It has begun - the leaves are changing colours & as always it is magnificent & a reminder of God and his power. A bit on the chilly side in the morning, today I was still wandering outside in just my PJs.
Reflection. It's amazing when you take the time to just sit and think, no distractions... just the birds, dragonflies & leaves drifting gently down, how all seems to fall into place, pun intended. Prayer brings peace. I pray the Rosary most days and admit sometimes I drift off when doing so , if I leave it too late (before bed) & I've had trouble with Rosaries that endure after a while. As a matter of fact - I have a collection of broken rosaries that I hope to re string. Sketching the other day, upset that my newest favourite broke again - I guess that's a good sign of use, I sketched a design to make a rugged rosary!
I'm very excited to start! One sketch became about 6 and the ideas just kept coming - but today I make the first, I think it will take a few days. You can buy some beautiful Rosaries -I especially like this brand (seen in the image below)https://ghirelli.com/collections/precious-stones-rosaries ...but they area little out of my price range (the ones I love, of course) and with the exchange they are even more, so I'll create my own for now. They also created the Rosalet which you can wear as a bracelet which is handy.
Some are stunning, there is quite the variety! I have a very old crystal rosary that was my grandmas, broken but I still cherish it and sometimes I still use it while thinking of my nanny. I don't believe our Mother Mary cares what we use as long as we pray any rosary. Our weapon against the devil. Our direct connection to communicating with God.
I have ones made from rose petals, plastic, glow in the dark, wooden beads, glass & crystals.
Today I start my forest inspired Rosary. I can't wait to pray - so it's working already! lol
Enjoy this day The Lord has made and take a moment to paws & reflect & Trust in God.
Enjoy these lovely fall days, the leaves will soon be gone and we all know what that means...
Baby Raptor gouache on watercolour paper 8 x 11
A painting for a new tiny human! I Love painting for babies, imagining they look and enjoy this custom creation for years to come, also including birth information & their name. I usually ask 'whats the nursery theme?' or 'desired nursery theme for those who don't have a designated nursery... usually everyone has something in mind. I loved painting this Dinosaur family and baby, and he is adorable, if I do say so. It took all day but it's a day filled with imagining, research and waiting for layers to dry- a perfect day for me. In between I kick the ball, make a meal, explore the forest & garden.
I don't normally draw dinosaurs but it's fun to research & then imagine, I think of Steve Williams who created the Dinosaur for Jurassic Park (I went to Sheridan for animation the same time Steve was there) & has a terrific documentary about his journey, if you haven't seen it check it out, it's an eye opener about the industry and stresses, demands, neglected accolades and life lessons. I can't imagine how Steve continues with normal daily life', trying to forget difficult parts of his past (he admits he can't forget) & I get why, every time you turn around Jurassic Park is everywhere, decades later - movies, ads, toys, clothing etc. He also predicted problems with AI taking over actual humans likeness (actors/preformers in particular), like we are discussing and dealing with now. Seeing Dinosaurs everywherewould be like ending a bad relationship but having your ex appear everywhere you go.. not fun. I think of him often and pray he's doing well & still using his creative genius to inspire himself & others. We just watched the newest film made in 2023 and noticed there's hardly any improvement of the actual dinosaurs created with CGI - so that too, is testament to Steves talent - still impressive and difficult to surpass after 35 years! I don't enjoy the movies any longer, knowing what we now know on how animators have been treated in the entire industry.
I'm grateful I was asked to create this, as you aware I'm fond of Bears and Mushrooms and Jesus, it forced me to take a break', a little extra mental stimulation required from my daily routine. lol - that being said a new painting of Jesus and a bear is on my desk. I was wondering about nursery themes and the most popular murals and came across this very impressive mural!Wow, Well done! I makes me kinda miss my mural painting days. I did see a few Pooh - classic and ocean themes and of course jungle is always a very inspiring mural for tiny humans to imagine the day away, I also like when I see books, book shelves and cases incorporated into the room (as the mural mentioned above) - books are the key to imagination, exploration and kids thriving. We have all heard - knowledge is power but I recently read - knowledge is not power - wisdom to use wisely the knowledge we acquire - is power. No wonder King Solomon asked for wisdom.
Created to create - teach a child to paint, colour, draw... you open up endless possibilities with tiny minds being able to explore art & themselves. Art 'saved me' too many times to mention and still does to this day, now I create all I do- with intentions to create for my creator! It's how I continually express gratitude & each painting brings joy to me & others, that's what we are here to do and there are countless ways to do it! Create something beautiful today, bake, write, garden, paint, carve, sew, build... create.
Enjoy this day the Lord has made!
Porky Pig! Bacon & eggs. acrylic on wood twirling art.
Often an orphan is about Charlie the dog looking for a home in the country, the city causes him much stress.. I get it.
Charlie is one of my favourite cartoon dogs - Chuck Jones really captures dogs with him and you can also see Max from the Grinch in Charlie. Porky holding him (tenderly) only because Humane society/animal welfare truck is in the background watching him. When Charlie shows up and says "bacon & eggs?" I find very humorous - asking porky (the pig) if he wants bacon.. these animators must just have had a ball when creating these cartoons (for adults).
In this cartoon when Charlie explains (dramatically) to Porky why he hates the city, the noise, the cars, the solutions...at one point he points up and screams - the towers are falling! Did he predict 9/11? Possibly. I'm not the only one who came to this conclusion. Watch it yourself & let me know. Either way, Charlie & Porky make for a great team, "everyone wants a dog!" Soon I'll have my new WB cartoon display. What a fun way to spend a day. There is so much happening in this world- stuff that can easily bring one down if you focus on it.
I think I should have used a lighter shade for Charlie.. oh well I captured visually what I wanted & am pleased with the results. I choose to focus on God and painting - what ever pleases me & I ask God for constant direction... some days I just want to enjoy & for what ever reason Bugs bunny helps me do just that.. I am really curious as to which WB cartoons people like, I ask all the time... What's your favourite WB classic 'Looney toons' cartoon?
The leaves are turning yellow the next few days promise sunshine & heat - our last heat spell for this year? Probably.
Enjoy this day the Lord has made! Do what brings you joy & Love Your Neighbour... take in that stray dog - you'll have friend for life.
Today, I'm painting side 2 of one of my favourite Porky Pig cartoons. See the look on that dogs face? A Chuck Jones signature , you can see where Max came from for the grinch. This cartoon makes me laugh several times, especially the visuals I choose to paint... but it also reminds me of a cartoon prediction that came true, 9/11. (more tomorrow).
Cartoon predictions' are nothing new The Simpsons are famous for them, many coming true -years later. How did they know? Were they just good guesses? I think most don't realize or appreciate the research that goes into cartoons/animation. Disney was a stickler for details - why his creations are still admired decades later as some of the greatest animated films ever created. Curiosity, research, comedy have humans creating these cartoons' and they ponder everything from science fiction books to reading anticipated scientific breakthroughs, leading to ideas spilling over into the art.
Blue Eye Samurai is a perfect example and no doubts cause for it being the success it is, largely due to historical reference. Artists study ancient materials/clothing, everyday household goods, weapons and traditions, even Samurai moves' and incorporate them into the art. So maybe some of it is guessing but I think some are genuine predictions from cartoonist profits. They're profits on every topic & from every time. Female profits use to be considered witches' (usually by threatened, insecure, egotistical men). It is a gift to 'see' into the future, some might not appreciate. Either way, it's difficult to explain some of these accurate predictions. Here are a few specific predictions mentioned and when created to when they came true, :https://time.com/4667462/simpsons-predictions-donald-trump-lady-gaga/.
I am not a Simpsons fan, I don't think I've watched more than10 episodes but I've witnessed too many predictions (now true) in the other animated hit "Futurama" . Either way - it gives you a new perspective on cartoons' & their creators.
Enjoy this day the Lord has made! It's been chilly & wet the past few so mushrooms must be popping! I'm going to try to squeeze in painting and exploring and baking into this day - how about you?
Painting & watching the rain... thank You, Lord.
We picked vegetables in the rain. Daisy loves the rain, the others do not.
Painting Porky... Bacon & Eggs.
Created to create!
Pooh Love - True love.. 8 x 8 gouache on black
Pooh is all about love, true love - love that does not judge. To love each other is to trust in God.
Trust Gods timing. Know - You are exactly where God wants you to be, including me.
When God wants you to be seen, it will be impossible to hide your light under a bushel!
Did I mention when I read the bible (daily) I am usually, humbled... for countless reasons.
I am reminded judgement is not our job, it's Gods. We are simply to love each other. Help each other. Do no harm.
The bible has helped me stop judging on appearance, all appearance of the body' or through choice of appearance. I was reflecting how in the past I would judge on how someone was dressed, how much makeup they wore, body piercing, tattoos ... there's countless ways to judge - it takes work to know. To judge someone on their appearance says more about the one judging. I was telling Storm, I was going to remain toothless when I go out (since I had misplaced my tooth, again) & emphasized if someone thinks anything of me simply because I'm missing a tooth - is a fault that lies with them. I'm going to go out of my way to say 'hello' to anyone I see, missing a tooth! BUT, as Storm pointed out - then why not smile for photos? Why cover your mouth? lolHabit, I guess. Experience from my own actions on how I judged others and anticipate the same... so the best conclusion I have, is to NOT care either way. ONLY remember Jesus LOVES me - toothless even. Love each other no matter what, the appearance is just the shell, God judges not on the outward appearance but by the heart inside a person.
Of course right after I claimed my toothless life, I found my tooth. lol. It's easily been over a month & it still fits. So maybe I should start with stopping - judging - MYSELF. If, I Trust in God & I doooo - (said in Nacho Libre voice), then I trust that all I encounter are lessons - not necessarily for myself but lessons for others. An opportunity for others to Judge or get to know others. How we judge others in our 20s is a big difference also in how we judge others in our 60s, you get to see, experience & learn much, the longer we are here.
I read a comment posted on someones page (who is struggling with health issues) and someone suggest 'he read the Quran', I took the suggestion as this person was trying to help, sharing what they believe will help. Someone commented ' 'no one needs the Quran', mentioned being a 'Christian', insinuating that -that's who helps them & why they come to this country. Anignorant remark. Is that what Jesus would say? Are those the actions of a Christian? Why even comment? Dismissing others opinions, suggestions to help, is not loving each other. The more we all know about all religions can help us understand all the good and light possible, in us all. We will all be judged, then, now and later - the only judgement will be on our ACTIONS,not our physical appearance.
For now, I'll wear my tooth - I had thought I must have thrown it out so it was a miracle it appeared again - long enough to teach me another lesson, as usual. Enjoy this day the Lord has made - smile - with or without teeth!
God want's us to be JOY - FULL.
Thank You Lord for my tooth , saved me a few hundred dollars(again) and I'll pose for more photos with my son with a huge smile, happy to be here another day to enjoy all Gods glory!
Tumble Weed. 8 x 8 gouache & real leaf.
Woody has discovered some Tumble Weed in the desert... better than a snake in his boot. Hee hee. This leaf was disassembled to form a Cannacacti!
I didn't coat the leaf on top as to avoid the shine.
I'm pleased with this painting, it turned out exactly as I imagined it.
I think 'Tumble Weed' would ben a great name for an Arizona dispensary. I become excited to see these complete but I have to make sure the painting is dry, before I glue on the leaves. It's amusing how each work inspire another idea... I've already sketched the next in my mind, then I paint it, imagining each shade and layer so that when I actually sit at my desk - it's 'almost' effortless. Essentially, I get double the enjoyment, painting the painting. It's been a while since I've seen Toy Story, I remember when it came out - a new level of animation had been achieved, the 'bar' raised once again.
I have quite the supply of dried leaves left so I should be able to make a few more creations.
Enjoy this day The Lord has made!
Have a terrific weekend - get out an enjoy the trees & leaves before they disappear once again.
Ursula discovers Sea Weed... Gouache on black & real dried cannabis leaf. 8 x 8
The Sea Witch discovers Sea weed. My first painting with a real leaf, 2 more wait on my desk. It's amusing trying to incorporate real leaves... forcing the mind to explore & expand, just like cannabis. These leaves once removed from the pages of the book, quickly 'turned & curled with the moist air, so I have to keep them in a book until ready to use.
I applied this one directly onto the paint which can be tricky, you don't want to upset the paint or play too much with the delicate leaves, especially the points. I also covered the leave with an extra coat but don't like the 'glossy effect.
Any new medium, including dried leaves force a new element of creativity. A boost to creativity - try it. Today we're collecting ALL leaves, before they fall, this fall. I hope to find some large enough to paint, an easy task, living in the forest. Leaf craft is nothing knew, just search PIN for endless ideas for all skill levels. Who doesn't remember placing leaves between sheets of wax paper to cut out and tape to windows? I have used cannabis in resin but the leave colour faded after time, not as appealing. I'm excited to paint todays idea, along the same lines and then -the next (probably also painted today) had me giggling at the sketch, that's usually a good sign. Once you start - you're on a roll!
Speaking of roll - roll me another (please). I can't roll joints anymore, it's simply too frustrating and painful, who knew rolling a joint would hurt my hand, thankfully Storm does, when ever I request. One joint lasts me all day. It's never really been about getting high' for me - more about medicating. & why I understand the importance of Gods medicine. Relief without all the side effects. Trying to take a break from prescription anti-inflammatory, I am increasing my cannabis use & it works... Even with cannabis it is good to take a break- clear the body & mind. A few weeks and medicine then seems potent again. Did you know, taking any medication (man made) is proven to cause har on the rest of your body, damage that might never be repaired or diminish, even if you stop medications. Is it worth it? Would it not be better to try to manage your pain in healthier ways? Hobbies that keep you passionate and your mind occupied are a great start. For me, reading, painting and conversing with God - prayer are 3 ways that I am able to get past pain.
One thing I have witnessed on this cannabis journey is people that usually have problems with it, also have a tendency to use (at the same time) other elements like alcohol, prescription medications which can enhance the sensation. I noticed on a medication (for the first time) the bottle warns 'marijuana' (and alcohol) may intensify this effect. Good. So when I felt the medication weakening' not being as effective I intentionally used cananbis with it and it worked, for a bit. I did notice the medication was not working as well as soon as 3 weeks into it but felt other negative effects daily, so off it I have gone. It's not worth it. A medicine designed to help (for a couple of weeks) did, yet abdominal cramping started, dry mouth, increase head pain (of a different kind, excessive bo, and increased irritability also had been noted AND it wan't helping as much as it did the first 2 weeks - my option; increase pills or increase natural medicine.
Natural is working, as well as. Thank God.
Speaking of real leaves, my son made me some paper to paint on! That too, is exciting. More soon.
Next another seaweed adventure.
Enjoy your day & do some research - figures out what works best for you. Feeling good, healthy is not a crime.
Putting people in jail for growing plants' that help many heal, is a crime, against each other & God.
Forest Jesus has found his new home. Yesterday, Storm & I went out into the forest to place Forest Jesus, at one of my favourite spots where we like to sit and linger & sometimes pray. It was another beautiful day, hot in the sun & chilly in the shade, a lovely day for a walk. The girls always enjoy it but also know this is where we sit and rest a while.
We had fun as always, Storm makes me laugh (especially when not wearing my tooth' lol) and we sat & enjoyed the view for a while. Jesus is in that tree safe & secured, he's not going anywhere. There's also a forest rosary... we can't wait to go out again & I hope to get out this winter, I've never been in the forest when covered with snow. That's the goal. Walking in the forest makes up for not having stairs in my house, keeps my ankles & knees agile - up and down, there's one place I struggle with but I can go around' for an easier climb. I've gone through and it only took 30 minutes but I like to linger & look and then I'm usually in there for at least an hour. Jesus has been given a couple of clear coats and we made sure he is somewhat protected and the sun to His back .. I'm curious to see how He hold up to Canadian elements. & if other creatures notice him! I also have fun idea for a new painting (of course).
We also found several mushrooms and Storms teaching me a mushroom craft!! (more later) Lot's on Blue mushrooms - how fascinating to pick a blue mushroom and see the blue ink stains on my finger as if from a tube of paint! So cool, vibrant and inspiring - what an artist God is! How great - thy ART! heeheehee I'm painting one today - a blue mushroom.
I took a Book off my shelf, a Disney art book - it was full of pressed cannabis leaves! We've not grown it for a couple of years so today I'm incorporating Gods medicine into a few playful ideas, applying the actual leaves - I'm excited to play & create. I read Trump is promising to legalize cannabis in Florida (decriminalize? for individual private use) ... about time, why Americans accept sending someone to 'jail over a plant' is still o.k., in some states, yet not in others is mind blowing. I think Kamala Harris might win anyway. Who will be better - I have no clue... but I know, God will have win who needs to win for reasons unknown to us. If so it will be a first in a few ways... an Indian, Woman president, the Lord works in mysterious ways. Donald has history of offending many (too many women) so perhaps change is in the air. Who knows.. either way - a job that demands much in every aspect. I wish who ever wins success -in achieving PEACE for their People.
Next another Pooh, I lost it for a few days..lol found it on my scanner & then some leaf incorporated art.
A few photos below of our walk, enjoy this day you have been given!
You were created to create - chop wood and carry water too!
Jesus & Dog - practicing joy. acrylic on canvas 6 x 12.
Nehemiah 8:10
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothingprepared. I painted this outside while playing ball in between drying times. Dogs are
This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joyof theLordis your strength.”
A scratch behind the ear, kiss on the forehead & throwing the ball are all it takes to brighten their day.
Sometimes it's fun just to create - no plans, no sketches... just go with the flow. This was one of those paintings.
Enjoy the gifts God has provided, the simple abundance... blackberries, fresh coffee, sunshine.
The stars were spectacular this a.m. (4 a.m.) I stood out there in the dark mesmerized at their number & glittering brightness. Ignore what steals your joy... just remind yourself : This need not be.
Focus on Joy - it is everywhere, as is God.
Happy September!
Created to create.
